FIERCE FLORA – A photographic exhibition of carnivorous plants
10 May @ 10:00 am - 18 May @ 2:00 pm

Drosera oreopodion is a Critically Endangered pygmy sundew, only 3-4 cm tall. It is endemic to the City of Armadale and found nowhere else on Earth (Photo: T. Krueger)
Carnivorous Plants attract, trap and digest animal prey to supply vital nutrients for growth in Western Australia’s poor soils. With over 200 species in WA, some 151 being endemic and another 25 yet to be described. The City of Armadale alone has 42 species, the commonest being Drosera sundews. We are a world carnivorous plant hotspot!
The Wildflower Society of WA, Armadale Branch is hosting a photographic exhibition focusing on species of the State’s south-west. Discover the amazing world of predators, prey, pollinators and kleptoparasites!
Accompanying ‘Art on the Scarp’ at the Environmental Centre, Triton Crescent, Bedfordale between Saturday 10th through to Sunday 18th May from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, the carnivorous plant photos will demonstrate the amazing beauty of these intriguing plants. Interactive experiences (drawings, puzzles, jigsaws, colouring, craft etc) will be provided for children.
The Wildflower Society uses its independent technical knowledge of WA’s wildflowers to help you better know, grow, enjoy and conserve the wildflowers of Western Australia.
