Perth Branch General Meeting featuring Ben Anderson
9 August, 2022 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
By analysing specific portions of life’s genetic code – DNA – scientists have constructed family trees for whole groups of plants, animals, bacteria, in fact most groups of life on Earth. But these family trees are, generally speaking, incomplete, with many gaps. Here in WA, many of our groups of native plants are understudied, but genomic analyses are updating our view of what we have and where it all belongs. One of the researchers involved with those analyses is Ben Anderson, who is based at the Western Australian Herbarium.
At our July General Meeting, Ben is our invited guest and will give us an overview of some of his work using cutting-edge genomics with our native flora.
As usual, our meeting will be on the second Tuesday of the month – 9 August – at the Subiaco Community Centre.
Doors open at 7.45 pm for an 8 pm start. A $3 donation gets you entry into the night’s door prize. All are welcome.
The Wildflower Society uses its independent technical knowledge of WA’s wildflowers to help you better know, grow, enjoy and conserve the wildflowers of Western Australia.
