Talk – The Beauty of Local Wildflowers – Djilba

2 August, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The Armadale Branch of the Wildflower Society of Western Australia is celebrating 60 years of knowing, growing, conserving and enjoying the highly diverse flora found in the bushland areas throughout the City of Armadale.

The first in a series of talks is about the wildflowers that abound in the Armadale area during the Noongar season of Djilba.

Get to know the flowers and where to find them, with special emphasis on our many orchids. Learn something too of the significance these plants had for the traditional Noongar people.

Many plants are indicators of seasonal change and a source of food and medicine, as well as material needed in the construction of shelters and the production of weapons and tools.
