Cathy Car – Leaf Litter Critters
8 June, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Dr Cathy Car – Research Officer, Western Australian Museum.
Cathy will be focussing on the small, usually unnoticed, invertebrate animals that inhabit healthy leaf litter – she will leave the vertebrates to the experts! Invertebrates play a vital role, along with bacteria and fungi, in helping to create that leaf litter, while using it as a home for themselves. While there are undoubtedly some introduced pests, such as the infamous Portuguese millipede, the bulk of litter fauna is native and beneficial, and should be recognised as such. This presentation by Cathy will help in separating the “baddies” from the “goodies”.
The Wildflower Society uses its independent technical knowledge of WA’s wildflowers to help you better know, grow, enjoy and conserve the wildflowers of Western Australia.
