Plant Survey 2023 Program

Our survey program is limited this year as we are trying to catch up with all the outstanding herbarium and reporting work. However we have a released a survey program to carry out priority flora surveys in WA.

Weekly Herbarium sessions

Volunteers meet at the Reference Herbarium (DBCAW, Kensington) on a regular basis from 10.00 pm – 4.00 pm on Wednesdays throughout the year. Anyone is welcome to come at any time to be involved in specimen sorting, identification and/or mounting.

We provide informal training in plant identification for volunteers as required.

Ken McNamara: The Secret Lives of Western Australian Rocks

Rocks are keepers of some of the secrets of Earth's long history. Even the most seemingly insignificant rock can tell us much about the history of this planet of ancient worlds of ice, raging floods, strange unbreathable atmospheres and prehistoric worlds teeming with life. Professor McNamara will concentrate on such rocks in Western Australia made from, or created by, once living organisms – from pea-gravels to banded ironstones to the limestones of the Nullarbor Plain – and much more.
