“Saving the Marri” by Dr Sarah Sapsford
DECRA Research Fellow, Harry Butler Institute, Murdoch University
The Marri (Corymbia calophylla) is a keystone tree species endemic to WA.
Their seeds are an important food source, and they provide nesting locations, for the endangered Carnaby’s black cockatoo. By the 1990s a disease was causing a noticeable decline in Marri numbers which continues to this day. Join Dr Sarah Sapsford who will unravel how disturbance and climate change are contributing to the decline of this iconic tree species and what we can to do help.
The Wildflower Society uses its independent technical knowledge of WA’s wildflowers to help you better know, grow, enjoy and conserve the wildflowers of Western Australia.
