Ken McNamara: Tales from the Cretaceous: Explosion of Speciation and Climate Change
13 April, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Dr Ken McNamara, Department of Earth Sciences, Cambridge University.
Fossil plants enable us to look at changing levels of floral diversity in the past. They also enable us to interpret the nature of past climates and what effect these had on plant evolution. In his talk, Dr McNamara will explore two sites, a 120 million year old site in WA that contains plants living at the dawn of the angiosperms; the other, a 40 million year site that shows the great explosion in diversity in WA’s native flora had already occurred by this time.
The Wildflower Society uses its independent technical knowledge of WA’s wildflowers to help you better know, grow, enjoy and conserve the wildflowers of Western Australia.
