Graham and Shirley Fisher are opening their garden Saturday 12th September between 10.00am and 3.00pm. Our branch last visited the garden in November 2016.
Master gardener Shirley Fisher has a keen botanical eye as seen in her art work, and her experience with botanical surveying, working with the Western Australian flora at the Leschenault Community Nursery, seed collecting, and with the DBCA herbarium in Bunbury – but this also extends to her enthusiasm for gardening with Australian plants.
We last visited the garden in November 2016, and in 2017, Shirley gave us a talk on Garden Design.
The Fisher Garden has a large collection of Australian plants, mostly Western Australian, and sits within some magnificent bushland within distance of Dunsborough’s Big Rock Reserve. Think gravel, granite, … a harsh environment for plants! But with the careful choice of plant species, a wonderful garden can be established.
