Perth Branch June Meeting Featuring Heidi Nistelberger

The Perth Branch will be holding our next General Meeting at the Subiaco Community Centre on Tuesday 8 June. Doors open at 7.45 pm for an 8 pm start. The $3 door donation gets you entry into the night’s door prize.

This month we will be hosting a talk by Dr Heidi Nistelberger, a geneticist at the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions. Biogeographical research on Parrot Bush (Banksia sessilis, formerly Dryandra sessilis), shows distinct differences depending on where it grows – in the hills or on the coastal plain. Intriguingly, the Parrot Bush genome tells us that these differences coincide with the formation of Swan Coastal Plain, about three million years ago.
