Tony Scalzo – Propagation and the Kings Park Growing Group

Dr Tony Scalzo will present on Propagation and the Kings Park Growing Group.  Tony Scalzo completed his PhD in 1986 and worked in the medical research field for over 25 years, though for the past 4 years he has been employed at Kings Park where he is working on plant breeding project. He was a former President of the Friends of Kings Park and has also been a key organiser of the Growing Friends group of the Friends of Kings Park for over 15 years. In his talk he will focus on the work of the Growing Friends Group and their preparation for Friends of Kings Park Plant Sales.

Meetings of the Perth Branch of the Society are held on the second Tuesday of each month in the Subiaco Community Centre across the road from Crossways Shopping centre in Bagot Road. Doors open at 7.45pm and the meeting begins at 8pm. Supper is served after the talk and everyone is eligible for the night’s door prize. You do not need to be a member of the Society to attend, entry requiring a $2 door donation.

 

 

 

Wildflower Society Student Prize

Congratulations to Thomas Windsor, 2016 winner of the Wildflower Society of Western Australia Student Prize, which is sponsored by the Perth Branch. Thomas is studying both botany and zoology at UWA and hoping to become a research scientist. Thomas received his prize from Perth Branch President Greg Keighery at an awards breakfast on May 3, and we hope to hear a short presentation from Thomas on his studies sometime in the coming year.
